Ingredients
- 16 lemons, halved
- ½ cup turbinado sugar
- 3 cups smoked simple syrup
- 3 cups cold water
- 1 cup vodka (optional)
- Lemon slices, for garnish
- Fresh mint, for garnish
- Ice
Instructions
1.
Preheat your Traeger grill to 500°F with the lid closed for about 15 minutes.
2.
Dip the cut side of the lemons into the turbinado sugar.
3.
Place the lemons cut side down directly on the grill grates and grill for 5–10 minutes, until grill marks form and the sugar is caramelized.
4.
Transfer the lemons to a large disposable aluminum pan, cut side up. Reduce the grill temperature to 275°F and cook the lemons for about 1 hour, or until they are very soft and easily squeezable.
5.
Remove the lemons and allow them to cool slightly. Squeeze the juice into a bowl, then strain into a large pitcher to remove seeds and pulp.
6.
Add the smoked simple syrup, cold water, and vodka (if using). Stir well to combine.
7.
Fill glasses with ice and pour the lemonade over the ice.
8.
Garnish with lemon slices and fresh mint before serving.
