Ingredients
- 2 (12 oz) bottles Cheerwine soda
- 1 cup ketchup
- ¼ cup finely minced onion
- ¼ cup light brown sugar
- 2 tbsp Cholula hot sauce
- 2 tbsp smoked sweet paprika
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 tbsp dried mustard powder
- 1 tsp chipotle powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- ½ tsp Redmond Fine Sea Salt
- ½ tsp finely ground black pepper
- ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
Instructions
1.
Pour the Cheerwine into a saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce by half until about 12 oz of liquid remains.
2.
In a large saucepan over medium-high heat, melt the butter and sauté the minced onion until softened.

Add the apple cider vinegar and bring to a simmer.

Stir in the reduced Cheerwine.

Whisk in the ketchup, brown sugar, Cholula hot sauce, smoked paprika, mustard powder, chipotle powder, onion powder, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper.
6.
Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened.
7.
Remove from heat and allow to cool.
Storage
Refrigerate in a sealed container for up to 1 week.
